How will LeSS apply to teams working together closely on Microservices?
What I learned today — 8 March 2018
LeSS is a framework for scaling agile among feature teams working together to deliver shippable increments of a single product. Organisations building microservices usually organise teams around business capabilities, which usually implies different products. How does one marry these two approaches when the teams aligned to different business capabilities need to work together very closely?
I hope to write about this a bit more in the future. Do you have experience with this? Please tell about your experience in the responses!
The big pain that drove us to start investigating LeSS was that the retrospectives held with the feature teams together in one room wasn’t effective at focussing on ways to improve. Rather it turned into a forum where only the most important knowledge sharing happened. To address this immediately we decided that going forward each feature team will have their own retrospective and then send a delegate to the Senate with issues that matter to them. The Senate is effectively a combined retrospective with representatives for different teams and a few other interested parties.
