How you start your career matters

What I learned today — 21 February 2018

They say it’s not how you start, but how you finish. I wholeheartedly agree with that, but today I met someone who’s career didn’t start very well. He’s in a position where there is little support and little in terms of technical excellence and growth. What really saddens me is that the number of years of experience on his resume is now actually a liability to him, because he would have to take a more junior position than what the resume suggests at a company where he can actually learn and grow his career to truly fulfil his potential. I hope he does.
